For many Waiheke is only a summer destination. The beaches are more beautiful, though, when it is not as hot and it is easier to spend more time in the sun comfortably. Waiheke is a good place to relax away from city sounds, to listen to birds, feel the wind, scan the stars at night. So close to the city, but such a different world. If you need to step away from stress and cares for a period of time, board the ferry and let your cares drop off as you leave the dock.  Breaking your patterns for a short while will allow you to come back refreshed and more able to flow with your “real life.” The friendliness of Waiheke is good for the heart and soul, and worth experiencing any time of the year in any weather. If it’s colder just bring some warmer clothes. It will still be sunbathing weather part of the day for a few more months.
